UB Dept. of Neurology Women Faculty Profiled on Medical Campus

Several women faculty members of the Dept. of Neurology, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Univ. at Buffalo/SUNY, have been profiled in February 2024 on the medical campus. Dr. Bianca Weinstock-Guttman, Professor of Neurology and Director of the Jacobs Multiple Sclerosis Center for Treatment and Research, was recognized for her leadership of the New York State MS Consortium and work on behalf of the National MS Society following her Grand Rounds on February 8. Penny Pennington, Director of Development and Program Management for the MS section, coordinated the recognition.

On February 13, Dr. Melissa Rayhill, Associate Professor of Neurology and Director of the Adult Neurology Residency Training Program, and Dr. Ashley Alex, Assistant Professor of Neurology and Director of the Neurology Medical Student Clerkship, both played key roles in the annual UB DoctHERS Symposium, Advancing Women in Medicine, Healthcare, and STEM. Dr. Rayhill coordinated the program — marked by a keynote lecture by Julie Silver, MD, Professor at Harvard Medical School — and delivered a Sponsorship Ask while Dr. Alex presented a brief, highly informative “pecha kucha” talk on migraine research funding and treatment advances.
