Dr. Nicholas J. Silvestri, Assistant Professor of Neurology in the UB Dept. of Neurology, has been named the receipient of the 2016 Program Director of Excellence Award. This is only the second year that the award has existed. Among Dr. Silvestri’s many contributions, the selection committee noted his tireless commitment to resident education and service on multiple UB committees, many associated with graduate medical education. Dr. Silvestri also helped to establish a pathway for resident membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honorary Society. Dr. Silvestri will formally receive the award in April 2016.
The Univ. at Buffalo/SUNY Department of Neurology of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences again will have a large presence at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting to be held April 15-21, 2016 in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Between scientific and educational sessions, the department boasts over 25 presentations. Research topics include Alzheimer disease and other cognitive disorders, the history of neurology, adult and pediatric multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, neurocritical care, neuroimaging, neurophysiology, peripheral neuropathy, stroke, and Tourette syndrome.
